Our Webinars

Since 2001, The English Manner has striven to increase awareness of the need for politeness, consideration for others and social confidence by sharing our knowledge of etiquette and manners.

In addition to our online learning videos and online courses we are pleased to offer a series of short webinars, each focusing on a particular area of historic and cultural interest. The webinars can be accessed wherever you are in the world and participants get to ask questions in real-time with the hosts.

Port Out, Starboard Home! The History & Etiquette of the Holiday

Join our historical advisor Steven Moore for a new webinar that looks at the history of how we holidayed.

Discover when people began to take a ‘holiday’ and how souvenirs played an important role. Who invented the ‘package tour’ and what was life like onboard classic ocean liners such as the Titanic? Was travelling on the Orient Express murder?

This new, detailed webinar ends with the histories of two of the world’s most luxurious hotels.

A complimentary replay is available to all registered participants for 24 hours after the webinar ends.

Certificates and replay downloads can be purchased at checkout.

10 easy ways to improve your conversation

In this 60 minute webinar leading expert in etiquette, William Hanson, reveals how some easy-to-master tips can enhance your conversation.

Advice will be given on techniques to improve and sustain eye contact; how to avoid dud questions; knowing and explaining your worth; gender differences for body language and conversation and much more.  Questions can be asked throughout.

A complimentary replay is available to all registered participants for 24 hours after the webinar ends.

Certificates and replay downloads can be purchased at checkout.

The History and Etiquette of British Dress Codes

Join etiquette coach William Hanson and historical advisor Steven Moore as they explore the social minefield and historical customs of British dress codes.

This new webinar will explore the background to correct dress and explore how sartorial rules have evolved over the years. When would a man wear ‘slips’? What purpose did a ‘mousquetaire’ serve, and which waistcoat button should gentlemen properly undo (and why)?

Participants may ask questions throughout. A complimentary replay is offered for 24 hours after the webinar ends to all registered participants. Replays, ebooks and certificates can be ordered at checkout.

Where advertised replay links are made available to those who participated in the live session as well as those who were unable to attend. Please read the descriptions of each webinar carefully to see if there is a complimentary replay available and the duration of the replay.

Yes, this is positively encouraged! There will be a chat function to the right of the main webinar window where all live participants may type questions. You may also be asked to take part in a live poll, too.

You can add a digital certificate of attendance to your order when registering. Certificates and all other add-ons are emailed to you within 5-10 calendar days after the webinar ends.

For an optimal experience, we suggest watching the webinar on a proper computer, rather than a smartphone or tablet. We recommend Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera as the most compatible browsers.

Immediately upon registration, you will have been emailed an access link. We will automatically send you a reminder of this link a few hours before the webinar starts, and then again a few minutes before the start time. If you still need help, please email us.
