Our Webinars

Since 2001, The English Manner has striven to increase awareness of the need for politeness, consideration for others and social confidence by sharing our knowledge of etiquette and manners.

In addition to our online learning videos and online courses we are pleased to offer a series of short webinars, each focusing on a particular area of historic and cultural interest. The webinars can be accessed wherever you are in the world and participants get to ask questions in real-time with the hosts.

Tea: The History, Preparation and Appreciation

Back by popular demand, our coffee and tea expert Giles Hilton (Fortnum & Mason, Whittard’s) returns to discuss how tea is sourced, prepared, brewed and presented. Do you know your FTGFOP tea grades? Who even invented them? Was it pretentious traders or is there a logic? How long should different teas be left to steep and why so?

In conversation with William Hanson, Giles will enlighten your minds and quench your tea thirst while answering any questions participants may have.

Please note, there is no complimentary replay available but participants can order a replay download at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each webinar begins promptly at the advertised start time. We ask for all participants to be logged in and ready, with speakers enabled, to the system 5 minutes before.

No. Unlike many of our other online courses, for the webinars advertised on this page the only people visible and on microphone are the webinar hosts.

Where advertised replay links are made available to those who participated in the live session as well as those who were unable to attend. Please read the descriptions of each webinar carefully to see if there is a complimentary replay available and the duration of the replay.

Yes, this is positively encouraged! There will be a chat function to the right of the main webinar window where all live participants may type questions. You may also be asked to take part in a live poll, too.

You can add a digital certificate of attendance to your order when registering. Certificates and all other add-ons are emailed to you within 5-10 calendar days after the webinar ends.

For an optimal experience, we suggest watching the webinar on a proper computer, rather than a smartphone or tablet. We recommend Google Chrome, Firefox or Opera as the most compatible browsers.

Immediately upon registration, you will have been emailed an access link. We will automatically send you a reminder of this link a few hours before the webinar starts, and then again a few minutes before the start time. If you still need help, please email us.

Webinar Replays
