No booking or date is secured or confirmed until payment has been received.

For Elocution/Speech services, payment is to be made by the invoice’s stated due date.

For group bookings, unless booked more than 18 weeks in advance, full payment is required within 14 days upon issue of invoice, unless otherwise stated or agreed.

Deposits are non-refundable unless the booking is cancelled by The English Manner, but may be transferred to a future booking if agreed in writing.

Payment can be made by bank transfer or by secure online debit/credit card payment.  (Credit cards accepted: Visa, Mastercard, American Express.)  We do not accept cash payments under any circumstances.

All payments received must be in British pounds unless otherwise stated or agreed.

Payment by direct bank transfer may be subject to additional administration fees, with all bank transfer fees to be settled by the client.  To comply fully with UK anti-money laundering legislation, further information may be requested before bank transfers can be completed, including full details of payee account and, for larger payments (above £1,000), proof of ID may be required.

We kindly advise that no tutor travel will be booked until full payment, or when agreed, a suitable deposit, has been made. In the event of a cancellation / postponement (see appropriate fees above), non-refundable / non-transferable travel costs may be passed on to the client.

The English Manner reserves the right to charge interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 on invoiced amounts unpaid by the due date at the rate of 8% per annum above the base rate from time to time of the Bank of England from the due date until the date of payment.

Cancellation: In-person training

The below covers all our courses except Train the Trainer (see below).

Cancellation fees*: within two calendar months in advance: 55%, up to 3 weeks in advance: 75%, within 13 calendar days prior: 100%.

Postponement to a later date is considered on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of The English Manner.  An amendment charge may be applied, especially if the tutor has turned down other work for the original date(s) booked.

The course will be postponed by The English Manner should the client fail to complete and successfully submit the required registration form.  No money will be returned but the course will be moved to a new date of mutual convenience; any additional venue or travel costs will be passed on directly to the client.

In the unlikely event that a course with a stated or unstated minimum number of attendees does not meet the minimum number, The English Manner reserves the right to cancel the course. A full refund will be offered to fully-enrolled students within seven working days. The English Manner cannot be held responsible for any expenses incurred by students due to a postponement or cancellation of a course.

For private bookings, any deposit or pre-payment made by The English Manner on behalf of a client to a chosen venue/supplier is subject to the venue/supplier’s terms and conditions and may not be refundable.  If the terms and conditions of the venue/supplier necessitate a non-refundable deposit the client will accept that their own deposit made to The English Manner may not be refundable.

*For all non-COVID19 related cancellations for in-person training.  If you are scheduled to join us for in-person training and are unable to travel due to government restrictions or symptoms of COVID19 a full refund will be offered, or the chance to transfer your attendance to a future date.

Damage

Any costs incurred through damage or breakage to any venues, properties, belongings or equipment owned or sourced by The English Manner or affiliated companies will be covered by the responsible party.

Safeguarding

For courses involving children, please click here to read our full safeguarding policy and procedures.

A/V Recording

Video or audio recording of any class, seminar, webinar or workshop is prohibited.  Online courses are not recorded for the privacy of our clients.

If permission has been granted to a specific client then it is understood that the footage/audio is used for personal use only and will not be used for commercial gain or appear on any media or social media, unless otherwise agreed.

From time to time we may take photographs or video to promote our courses and services.  We operate an opt-out policy and ask for clients who do not wish to appear to inform us in writing before course commencement.

We never, however, capture children’s courses or private 1:1 training, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Bespoke Courses

For bespoke courses we charge a nominal course design fee.  The fee is non-refundable but can be redeemed against the final investment if the bespoke course goes ahead.

The bespoke course design service does not give the client any rights, unless otherwise agreed in writing, to exclusivity, claim intellectual property or ownership of the course design.

The course programme may not be shared with any other third party unless agreed in writing by both parties.

Timekeeping, Scheduling, Tutors

For in-person training, we ask all students to arrive for the time stipulated on the course welcome information unless agreed otherwise.  The tutor will leave, and no refund will be offered for students who fail to show up after 40 minutes without telephoning, texting or emailing to highlight their lateness.

For online training, we ask all students to connect 5 minutes before the stipulated start time.  For private online training if a student fails to show after 10 minutes without telephoning, texting or emailing to highlight their lateness, the tutor will disconnect.  No refund will be given unless in exceptional circumstances.

Webinars and online group course scheduling is subject to change at the discretion of The English Manner.  Every best effort will be made to give participants sufficient notice.

The English Manner also reserves the right to reschedule tuition, change/replace any modules on any of the listed courses or reallocate tutors; where possible, students will be notified of these changes.

Whilst we will do our best to allocate named tutors for private tuition if specifically requested, this cannot be guaranteed due to the international nature of our work and retained clients. All our tutors are experts and their range of skills meet all courses offered by The English Manner.

Should a named tutor be unable to attend a booking due to sickness or a personal emergency, subject to availability, we provide a substitute tutor.  Only if we are unable to provide a tutor will a refund be offered.

Referencing Your Studies

You are welcome to state you have undertaken training with The English Manner, but the duration, topics and online/in-person medium must be stated clearly and by no means worded to mislead.

For example: ‘Trained in etiquette by The English Manner‘ would be too vague. Instead, ‘trained by The English Manner in social etiquette in London – 1st June 2023‘.

Current participants of the Train the Trainer programme may state they are currently studying for the programme but must not imply they have graduated until they have received their graded exam results back. We will advise on the appropriate wording for alumni of the programme.

We are always happy to advise any client on how to discuss your time with us.

Force Majeure

The English Manner reserves the right to postpone or cancel any training due to industrial action, national mourning, government health advice or any other unforeseen occurrence.

We will make every best effort to inform the client in time and process refunds accordingly, where appropriate.

Privacy and Data

The English Manner takes your privacy very seriously. Please refer to our Privacy Policy,

which states clearly our obligations under the GDPR regarding:

  • the personal information we collect about you, our users;
  • what we do with your information, and;
  • who your information may be shared with.

By using this website, you agree to our use of cookies.  We use cookies to provide you with a better experience and to help our website run effectively.

Miscellaneous

Should a student or client fail to provide accurate and honest information about a booking, including but not limited to student’s/students’ ages (for children’s training), group size, dietary/access/medical and additional learning requirements, The English Manner reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course, retaining any monies paid to cover costs already incurred, including administration, and up to the full course fee.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all participants for online training must have their camera turned on and microphone enabled. This is for the safety of our tutors and other students.

Digital certificates of attendance for online courses and webinars will only be issued if the client has attended over 90% of the course/webinar.  No refund will be issued if a student fails to attend but a credit to use towards a future course may be granted.

All purchases and rentals of our online courses, in the form of videos or webinars, are final and cannot be refunded or exchanged.

Our presentations and training materials are copyright The English Manner and cannot be shared or given as handouts, unless agreed in writing.

For private and corporate trainings, any planned press coverage is to be agreed upon in advance and in writing by all parties.

By submitting a registration form, the client has accepted registration.  Acceptance and registration constitute a contract.
