Our Team and Experts
Alexandra Messervy, FRSA, our Founder and CEO, takes overall responsibility for the design, arrangements and often accompanying for specialised groups and private travellers. Our guests come from all over the world: North and South America, Japan, China, India and Australia as well as Europe. Alexandra has lived in London, the West Country and the Cotswolds and travelled extensively both privately and on business. Probably one of the most critical of guests, her attention to detail and highest standards is notable in every design, and her contacts are legendary. Alexandra designs programmes tailored to client preferences and desires, and has enjoyed very many returning guests. She is constantly sought to accompany guests, many of whom have become special friends.
Anna Kirkman, Executive Assistant and Programmes Director, joined The English Manner in 2011 after moving to the West Country with her husband and young family. Travelling widely throughout her life, she constantly explores new resorts, luxury venues and destinations, and has looked after many of our guest groups and private clients. Her attention to detail is again second to none, and guests can be totally secure in the knowledge that they will be looked after from the tour inception to the moment they walk back in to their front door.
Renowned for our client care and efficiency, giving outstanding guest care, we aim for faultless administration and guiding throughout.
Our guides and experts are the leaders in their field, and include Todd Longstaffe-Gowan and Rose Balston, Heidi Howcroft, Mary Keen, Amelia Dalton, David Fletcher and Nicholas Merchant. Every aspect is personally known to us, including the finest inns, cafes, restaurants and shops; the best country house hotels or private ancestral homes; and the loveliest gardens and fine art collections which are not always open to the general public. There are no hidden extras, whether a programme combines classroom based tutorials and field trips, or a more sophisticated cultural tour, many meals are provided, all entrance fees, guiding, luxury transport and accommodation – sometimes even special surprise treats.
