Terms and Conditions
For courses provided by The English Manner in the UK, immediate full payment is requested, unless the course is booked more than 8 weeks in advance*.
*For group bookings, unless booked 18 weeks in advance, full payment is required.
Please be advised that unless otherwise stated all One-Day or half-day courses are carried out at a date of mutual convenience between The English Manner and the client. Once a date and venue has been arranged, and payment has been received, clients will receive an email with final confirmation and arrangements for the day. The course will not go ahead until full payment has been received.
Postponement to a later date is considered on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of The English Manner/The Etiquette Connection Ltd. An amendment charge may be applied.
Any early-bird discounted rate quoted is subject to the same terms and conditions and payment must be received within 14 working days of date of invoice for the rate to be honoured. Failure to pay within the 14 days will result in the full course price being charged.
Cancellation fees: one month in advance: 55%, up to 3 working days prior to the engagement: 75%, 48 hours prior: 100%.
We kindly advise that no tutor travel will be booked until full payment, or when agreed, a suitable deposit, has been made. This cost may be passed on to the client.
Any deposit or pre-payment made by The Etiquette Connection Ltd on behalf of a client to a chosen venue/supplier is subject to the venue/supplier’s terms and conditions and may not be refundable. If the terms and conditions of the venue/supplier necessitate a non-refundable deposit then the client will accept that their own deposit made to The Etiquette Connection Ltd may not be refundable.
In the unlikely event that a course with a stated minimum number of attendees does not meet the target, The English Manner reserve the right to cancel the course. A full refund will be offered to fully enrolled students within seven working days. The English Manner cannot be held responsible for any expenses incurred by students due to a postponement or cancellation of a course.
Methods of Payment
Unless otherwise stated, all prices quoted exclude VAT.
Payment is taken via a secure online debit/credit card facility.
Credit cards accepted: Visa, Mastercard, American Express.
All payments received must be in British pounds.
Payment by direct bank transfer is upon request and considered on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to additional administration fees.
Damages and Breakages
Any costs incurred through damage or breakage to any venues, properties, belongings or equipment owned or sourced by The English Manner or affiliated companies will be covered by the responsible party.
We ask all students to arrive for the time stipulated on the course welcome information, unless agreed otherwise. The tutor will leave and no refund will be offered for students who fail to show after 40 minutes without telephoning, texting or emailing to alert the tutor or office as to their lateness.
A majority of our courses take place in some of London's most prestigious private members' clubs, which enforce dress codes. We will be unable to go ahead with the training should students turn up in clothes that contravene these dress codes. We will send information on dress codes (together with all other relevant information about the course) upon receipt of payment. The student accepts that failure to comply with the dress code will result in training not taking place. No refund will be offered.
Whilst we will do our best to allocate named tutors for private tuition if specifically requested, this cannot be guaranteed due to the international nature of our work and retained clients. All our tutors are experts in their field.
Should a named tutor be unable to attend a booking due to sickness or a personal emergency, we will do our best to provide a substitute tutor and ask that clients understand. Only if The English Manner cannot provide any tutor will a refund of any amount be valid.
Video or audio recording of any class, seminar or workshop given by The English Manner and associated tutors is prohibited unless otherwise agreed. If permission has been granted, it is understood that the footage/audio is used for personal use only and will not be used for commercial gain or appear on any media or social media.
Occasionally, The English Manner will have need to film or photograph a tutorial for internal or external marketing purposes. Students or clients who do not wish to be captured must alert The English Manner in writing no less than five working days before the course commencement date. The English Manner will inform students of any planned filming or photography by a party other than The English Manner in writing.
Access to student notes and further reading lists will be granted up to five working days from date of training. The reproduction or distribution of any notes or materials is strictly prohibited. The downloading and printing of notes is disabled. Sadly the course material platform does not work in China.
Notes will be accessible for 30 days following the date of the course for half-day and One-Day courses, and 90 days following Four- or Five-Day courses. Timescale for access to notes for bespoke courses are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The English Manner reserves the right to postpone any training due to industrial action, ill health or any other unforeseen occurrence. The English Manner will make every best effort to inform the client in time.
If a tutor is booked for an overseas visit the visa, invitation letter and other relevant travel documents are to be provided by the client, where necessary, unless otherwise agreed. Failure to provide these within a sufficient timeframe may result in the tutor being unable to travel. No refund will be given but the booked dates will be rescheduled, where possible.
Certificates are only included for the Five-Day Finishing Touch course and the Four-Day Introduction to Private Household Management course. Students who wish to receive a certificate (upon condition of successful completion of the course) are asked to pay a small printing cost.
Should a student or client fail to provide accurate and honest needed information about a booking, including but not limited to students' ages, group size, dietary and medical requirements and learning difficulties, The English Manner reserve the right to cancel or postpone the course, retaining up to 30% of any monies already paid to cover costs already incurred and administration.
The English Manner reserves the right to change or replace any modules on any of the listed courses; where possible students will be notified of these changes.
